Orange leaders speak.

It was indeed most encouraging to see that during the Twelfth Demonstations; over twenty of them, not one paisleyite speaker was on board. nor was the taitor, WDM of Portadown District, Darryl Hewitt who recently had talks with Gerry Adams.

Instead, we were blessed with good men like Stephen Dickinson,David Mc Narry, Robert Saulters, Martin Smyth and many more.

For this, we thank God!

Order ‘sickened’ by power-sharing

THE leader of the Orange Order has launched a stinging attack on Sinn Fein, saying it is “sickening” to see them in government.
Grand Master Robert Saulters spoke out when addressing thousands of Orangemen in Dromara at the weekend.

Sickening

He said: “It is sickening to us, following such dastardly attacks on our people for 35 years, to see the commanders

of that enemy sitting in government today acting as politicians who care for the peaceful existence of the people.”

The theme was followed by senior Orangeman and Ulster Unionist MLA David McNarry, who addressed the demonstration at Broughshane.

He said the Order, in its Twelfth resolutions, continued to express reservation over the sharing of power in government with those who had a contrasting concept of democracy.

“Name another democracy constituted like ours in which a private army can hold positions in government,” he asked the crowds.

Army council

“Sharing power with the Provos’ political wing is hard. But what causes extra resentment and anger is knowing that it also entails sharing power with their army council.”

So long as there is an army council there will be an uneasy peace, he said.

Critical

Meanwhile, a former Deputy Grand Master of the DUP has criticised the DUP for going into government with Sinn Fein.

The Rev Stephen Dickinson told the Ballyclare demonstration that truth had been replaced by spin.

“Within the Orange Order we are not going to follow the same route as the Democratic Unionist Party,” he said.

“This is not about cultural tourism Mr Robinson, it is about Protestantism.”
