Orange___Adams Talks.

Better no parade than via Adams’ meeting

THE Richter scale must have been near breaking point the other night as shock waves reverberated throughout Ulster. This cataclysmic happening occurred during a television interview with Portadown Orange chief Darryl Hewitt.
The District Master believed that the Orange talks with Gerry Adams were along the same lines as the sitting down together in Stormont of unionist and republican politicians.

Mr Hewitt has obviously missed the point. The politicians whom he is speaking of, primarily the DUP, choreographed a complete scenario culminating in unionists being systematically sold into the hands of their traditional enemies.

Surely the District Master doesn’t expect the loyal brethren of Portadown to tread this path? Many people discern the Orange Order to be the custodians for Protestant defence and for the proclamation of the evangelical Protestant religion.

Decent people throughout Ulster wish to see the annual Battle of the Somme parade restored as soon as possible. But far better that it never takes place than through arch-republican Adams.

Jim Murdock,
Portadown
