A look at our situation________Mr. Colin Hillis

I warmly commend the post hereunder to our many viewers. While some may not neccesarily  go the wholw way with Colin’s analysis, they are bound to recognise that there

is something unprecedently wrong with our country where we have MURDERERS of the vilest hue in it’s governance. May our Brother’s message osscilate through every nook and cranny in ulster

Firstly I am gutted at the recent stance of the DUP on almost everything morally and politically. I support the concept of a new party ok, but the politicians within that party must be CHRISTIANS and by that term I do not mean the broad sense of the word. THEY MUST openly own Christ as Head of the church AND state. This must be a very open acknowledgment! All political, economic decisions etc, must take complete guidance from the infallible Word of God.

This party must not compromise as is the tendency of modern day churches and politicians. They must renounce the RC church and openly broadcast that the pope is “the” anti-Christ. This is not sectarianism, but biblical teaching which our forefathers died for and yet it is common now for Christian politicians to dilute this truth to appear more tolerant.

Until the above is in place, then no party will ever prosper. Too many good people in Ulster still think that a new party will give Ulster another chance. This is simple wishful thinking and like a child putting their hands over their eyes in a vain attempt to make the obvious disappear. It is God we need in Ulster. If the TUV want to make a go of this for real, then I respectfully suggest that good sound Christian men be hand selected to stand for elections.

Many who support the TUV also left the DUP (not initially) after things started going belly up for the Doc and they claimed that politics should not be mixed with religion. I have no problem with religion highlighting to congregation what is wrong in Ulster politics etc, but the “praise service” organised to raise funds for the TUV is just a revisitation of the early days of the DUP. It is a mixing of God’s worship with politics once again.

In summary then, if God-fearing men are selected for elections and they claim Christ as rightful Head of the Church and State and they are governed by the Word….then I would support the TUV and would pour time and effort into them without ceasing. What I have seen to date of the TUV has not satisfied the above unfortunately. I also suggest a distinction to made between politics and God’s worship. God’s worship is a time to worship God exclusively….not raise funds for a party – regardless of how noble that partys’ efforts are.

I hope the same mistakes the DUP made are not re-made by the TUV. The most important thing is Christ’s honour and glory as he is our Head. That is why an un-Christian election candidate cannot own Christ as he should, especially given his/her very public o

We must always be thankful for converts, but the work of Christ through the Holy Spirit is imparted to sinners (worthy of nothing but the lowest caverns of hell).  Therefore the messenger (although worthy of general respect) should never be held up as if he were almost someplace between the rest of the population and God.  I believe that Ulster Christians through their own sin helped very much in setting Doc up for the fall, for which he will ever be remembered.  I was one of those Christians to my own shame.

I would never be too critical of individual converts individually, as I can fall just as easily (or probably more easily) than he did.  On the other hand with Doc, it is perfectly scriptural to point out his sin and condemn his sin publicly for the following reason.  The difference is that he has set himself up in a very public role both politically and more importantly in the context of the visible church on earth.  His fall was very highly publicised and his profile during his fall showed a lack of shame for his position.  Therefore for us not to openly condemn him for his sin would seem to the world as if we were inconsistant in our view of sin (in other words it depends on who is committing it).  For this message to go to the world is a desperate reflection of Ulster Christians own sinful state.  For Christians who hold high profile positions within church and state, they must be all the more careful of their own spiritual condition, since their actions could cause mockery of Christians and ultimately Christ.  The FPC MUST discipline Doc publicly as it is scriptural to do so.  I fear that he will never truly be disciplined as too much respect exists for him as a person to punish him in a scriptual manner.  It seems a compromise has been reached in terms of church unity, but church unity is not more important than doing what Christ has specifically ordered as a way of dealing with sin in the congregation!  Church unity has become an over-riding factor to God given regulation on the visible church on earth.  If church membership is slashed by 75% and yet God’s ways are adhered to as far as possible, then the remaining 25% will be blessed and will have done the scriptural thing.  To retain the 100% membership and compromise on God’s regulations on the congregation will ultimately withold God’s future blessing from the church.  We must rmember CHRIST is Head and King of the church on earth and he has the rightful authority to rule his church by his own regulations.

If you look at Eli for example.  His sons were unruly to the extreme and because Eli failed to restrain his sons in any shape or form, God punished him in a very public way for this.  I am sure many other Israelites had unruly sons and yes all sin is punished, but Eli’s punishment is recorded in such a high profile manner due to his high profile position.  Our King will not be put to scorn over the head of a backslidden person.  God will punish their sin and usually in a public way.  I hope for the sake of Doc, that he repents of his wickedness.  I fear even if this is the case, that Doc will still carry the burden of that sin until his death because as I said before God always punishes public sin by Christians in a public manner.

While I feel sorry for Doc for falling as he did, we must also take glory in God’s judgement as God’s attributes (including punishment) are always just.  We as Christians all want to see Christ glorified more and more in church and state and therefore God’s judgement will be just and vindicative of the people who voted against Dr Paisley in the FPC and the DUP
